Live Bar News on August 9th according to the report of South Korean media quoted from RFA, the Asian Football Association confirmed North Korea’s intention to participate in the 2026 World Cup qualifier Asian regional qualifier.
North Korea has not participated in international competitions for nearly three years since November 2019. In the second round of the last FIFA World Cup qualification Asian qualifiers, North Korea abstained halfway to withdraw.

When the media asked the Asian Football Association whether North Korea intended to participate in the FIFA World Cup qualification, the Asian Football Association responded: “Fifa and the Asian Football Association have received North Korea’s intention to participate in the FIFA World Cup qualification.”
In the Asian group draw for the 2026 World Cup qualifier held last month, North Korea and Japan, Syria, Myanmar/Macao, China were divided into the same group. At present, North Korea ranks 115th in the latest FIFA ranking.
